At Highlands Camp, we proudly practice and uphold five core values: Belonging, Curiosity, Play, Adventure,…

Edith Brooks
In the fall we received a very special request: “May I bring my mom to Highlands for a walk and a bit of reminiscing?” Mike Doyle responded immediately. “Yes, and I will be happy to give you a tour!”
Soon thereafter, Kookie Kahn and her mother, Edith “Edie” Brooks, came to camp for a guided walk with Mike.
Edie and her husband, Raleigh, moved to Timnath, CO in 1961. They became members of Timnath Presbyterian and raised their six children in the loving embrace of the Church. The kids attended Highlands Camp with their church buddies. Kookie recalled the joy she experienced at Summer Camp during bonfire sing-alongs, hiking, and making crafts.
Raleigh passed away in 2021, and Edie continues the legacy that she and Raleigh started 50 years ago by offering financial support to Highlands.
Do you have memories of camp you’d like to share? Are there trails your feet wish to walk? Do you yearn for the sacred places you used to know? Come back to Highlands and fill your heart with peace. Highlands will welcome you with open arms and introduce you to the wonders that she holds. All are welcome here.
